How out there is that! Students have choosen to illustrate shop mannequins in the theme of To love Veronica Bee. They're covering their mannequin in artwork and adding attachments (like one student is adding bee wings). Mannequins are then animated in a hip hop music vid clip for bumble!

Once again I changed my mind on what I want to do for this exercise, at the last minute this time. I am now doing a mannequin. I recently received my mannequin and went to work on it straight away. I marked out on the mannequin where I was going to cut it into pieces (I cut it into 5 pieces, 2 arms, 2 legs and the midsection). I went to my dads work and used the ban saw. I then made a board that I spray painted black and mounted the limbs to the board. I made a stand to sit the midsection on so it would look in proportion to the rest of the body. I drew pictures of horses, unicorns, the 4 leaf clover, Susie, the locket and the Olympic Games on it in pencil. I cut the body up to represent the change of life that veronica was experiencing and routine of day to day life was broken. I drew on the midsection all the things that meant something to her to show that even though her life was changing, she still was the same girl and still loved the same things and had the same dream.

For my outcome on'To love Veronica Bee'I will be doing a mannequin.
Ive decided to use the bad things that happen as a result of her parents marriage break down as my theme. For the back ground I will use zig zag bee stipes showing how hectic her life is getting then I will paint various words and pictures representing the types of things that are going bad eg;The olympic rings broken in half to represent her shattered dream of competeing in the olympics. Yet there will be some little things on the mannequin that show that even though there seems to be so much going on she still has hope eg; a pair of wings showing that even though things are going bad she can still reach for her dreams and fly.

For the outcome on “To love veronica bee” Simone and I will be making a mannequin that will be made up of all the things close to veronica bee and her dreams in the inside of the mannequin because we want that to come across as really close to her heart and show what’s in the inside of her,
then on the outside it will have her horse riding outfit because she really loved to ride horses and she absolutely adored horses and collected horse things.

WHAT GOES ON THE INSIDE OF OUR MANNEQUIN?
So far we have decided that we want to draw on a picture of a horse, her with a horse and also the four leaf clover, some bees, a honey comb but also we want to also show that horse riding is her dream and kind of show her achieving her goal of being in the Olympics and have some ribbons and maybe a trophy, we are also going to have the letter that her mum wrote to her before she went to school in Kew because that was a significant thing in the book because its telling her that things will be alright even though she’s going to be away from home and also because she keeps a bit of the letter in which she ripped up on her necklace with her four leaf clover.

Veronica Bee

We are from La Trobe Secondary College and are reading Veronica Bee and for our piece we have chosen to do a mannequin and we are going to design it with a bee bottom and wings like a bee coming out and it will be painted with the clothes she is wearing on the front cover of the book and inside we have chosen to do a bibliography on her with the thing she enjoys. Inside there will be some 3D pieces and some just on a plain piece of paper. We choose to do a mannequin because Veronica is one of the main characters and we wanted to explore her and know the things she enjoys and likes.

Examples of some things that Veronica likes:
• Horses
• Yarra Valley
• Susie
• Four leaf clover
• Competition riding for Australia in the Olympics
• Country life
• Unicorns
• Helping people

I will be working on a mannequin for my outcome for the book “To Love Veronica Bee”.

My main idea is to paint the mannequin with black and yellow stripes first, to link her surname and nickname to the project. Then I’m going to paint various things on top of that like horses, four-leaf clovers, her house in Yarra Valley and what I think her best friend Suzie would look like. Then I’m going to put quotes from the book that show that she was happy.

I chose to do the mannequin this way as I wanted to show that things weren’t always bad for Veronica; that she still had Suze as her best friend despite the move to Kew, that she still had her lucky four-leaf clover and her dreams of competing in the Olympics, even though they seemed distant.

Graeme and I are making a mannequin as a nun for “To Love Veronica Bee”.
Our idea came from the part in the book where Veronica leaves Yarra Valley High and attends a convent school in Kew where nuns run the school.

We are planning to paint the mannequin and add a cross and glasses to represent Sister Frances who is a specific teacher at the school who seems to help out Veronica with an IRP that she is currently working on.
Sister Frances notices that Veronica is wearing a chain with a pendant and she has to confiscate it from her because they are not allowed to wear jewelery at school. Veronica pleads for her not to take it but rules are rules. The reason why Veronica is so against Sister Frances taking her pendant is because it holds her lucky four leaf clover and the scrap of paper that is the letter her mum wrote to her promising that they will return to Yarra Valley in one year’s time.
