02/21/2005: "Veronica's house at Kew!"
It's true! Veronica's house at Kew is based on a real building on Swan Street in Richmond, Melbourne.

Plus, when I was writing the final draft of To love Veronica Bee they started building Federation Square in Melbourne. I was surprised to see how similar the triangle shapes were to my description of Veronica's houses in Kew and Yarra Valley. Check out these pics of Fed Square: FedSquareMelbourne1, FedSquareMelbourne2, FedSquareMelbourne3.

YEAR 9 & 10 Graphic students @ LATROBE SC: INTEGRATED UNIT ON TO LOVE VERONICA BEE
Each student will be exploring architecturally designed homes. We will be looking at what it means to have an architecturally designed home and students will be taken on e visit to a handful of houses which will include the wave designed house featured in Sarah Boland’s novel. Students will be encouraged to take photos and comment of the designs of each of the houses. Their photos and analysis will then be placed in their scrapbook. In Graphics the students will then design the floor plan of Veronica's house at Yarra Valley. In Mathematics they will study measurements, ratio and scale to help them with their own designs. In Science they will focus on housing materials and explore how to make their homes more energy efficient. The students will then visit Ceres, an environmentally friendly co-operative community which relies on solar energy to operate. In Sose the students will examine the importance of their environment and the hazards and natural disasters countries are prone to. In Woodwork the students will build the houses they designed in Graphics and in Art the students will decorate them.
