Click on 'MORE' to read about Cass, Ruby and how they wrote their Stop! Splat! song...
In 2003, as part of a Pop Fiction Youth e-Literature event @ Princes Hill Secondary College - Cassie Hardy and Ruby McMahon read the book To love Veronica Bee and then wrote the lyrics to the 'Stop Splat!' song.
Here's what Cass and Ruby said. "We started off writing some Melbourne bands that we like then we wrote a song. There’s a page in the book that has lots of Veronica’s thoughts and we just used them and turned them into a song. The best thing that could happen to us would be to have one of these bands do it and actually like the song and think, oh maybe, this could be a good song that we could sing and then it would be really good if we could go and meet them and talk about it and stuff." Area7 is Cassie and Ruby's fave Ska band, so last year, Cassie and Ruby got to meet Area7 and workshopped their song to see how it'd sound when music was added and the lyrics were sung. How cool would it be if Area7 recorded the 'Stop Splat!' song!!!! Do you reckon they should? If so, how come?
